The City of Huntington engaged Walker Consultants to deliver a parking study for the downtown. The parking study addresses user concerns about parking and provides tools for the community to ensure space adequacy and greater user benefits.
The City of Huntington provides over 600 public parking spaces downtown for users, while the Huntington Police Department conducts parking enforcement downtown.
Walker performed a supply/demand study to assess parking space adequacy across the downtown. Stakeholder engagement was conducted with town hall forums and surveys issued to document the user experience. Walker evaluated parking policies and practices to make recommendations for improved parking management downtown.
Walker’s parking study allowed Huntington to move forward with downtown redevelopment plans, quantitatively document parking space adequacy, and address stakeholder parking concerns to enhance customer service benefits.
