New Haven, Connecticut
The New Haven Parking Authority owns several parking facilities throughout the City of New Haven: six structures and three surface lots totaling 41 lanes serving over 6,500 parking spaces. Walker teamed with Tighe & Bond and was selected by the New Haven Parking Authority to develop specifications and contract documents for the replacement of their aging Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS). The City also wanted an automated parking guidance system for the 11-level 2,500 space Air Rights Garage.
The project included an evaluation of existing needs that moved into design documents, bidding and construction administration/testing. Walker worked closely with the Parking Authority to develop bidding documents that phased construction so all facilities would remain open during the project. We assisted the City with vendor bidding and selection. The $3M contract consisted of access card readers and ticket dispensers, automated pay stations, and cashiered exits.
