Walker Consultants prepared a comprehensive parking and transportation plan for Austin Peay State University. Walker’s study helped the University understand its assets, optimize its parking and transportation system, and plan for the future.

In particular, Walker helped the University create a self-supporting parking and transportation auxiliary business unit. Walker’s plan was based on  a study of its existing assets and parking demand, as well as engagement with the campus community.

Walker’s plan was based on sustainable principles and offers students and visitors transportation mode choices. This included revising a campus shuttle route and introducing alternative commuting programs. Walker also recommended re-striping an existing lot to make better use of space, and adding license plate recognition to eliminate physical parking permits and streamline administration and enforcement.

Walker Listened and Provided a Customized Solution

“It was a pleasure to work with Walker Parking Consultants. They listened to what was important to us as we move forward to improve parking on our campus. The plan they created was customized to our university and not of the cookie-cutter variety. Walker provided cost effective recommendations for implementation. As our university grows and we identify other needs, I hope to get the opportunity to work with Walker again.”

—Michael Kasitz, Assistant Vice President for Public Safety, Austin Peay State University

With Walker’s recommendations, Austin Peay State University has improved efficiency and customer service, and is able to delay or avoid the necessity of building additional parking.
