The National Parking Association recognizes Sean Marshan as one of this year’s 40 under 40!

Congratulations to Sean Marshan, Project Manager from our New York office for being a visionary within the parking industry!

Sean Marshan is a rising star among the young professionals leading Walker Consultants into the future. He is currently a project manager in Walker’s New York office, managing some the firm’s most exciting and challenging projects. The dedication and focus on the future of young leaders such as Sean ensures that the parking industry will continue to adapt and thrive through this time of technological advancement and evolution. Sean is enthusiastic to be a leader helping to create the future of parking.

Sean began his career in parking after earning a Bachelor of Architecture in 2010. Since that time, he has gained a wealth of experience working in almost all aspects of parking, including new design, restoration, new technologies, and master planning. His architecture background has served him well in developing ascetically pleasing parking structures that integrate into and enhance the communities which they serve. His designs pay respect not only to form, but function as well. In his time at Walker, Sean has emerged as standout among the next generation of functional designers. He enjoys and excels at the 3-D puzzle challenge of how to most efficiently move vehicles and pedestrians through a limited space. His designs focus on improving the experience of the user, from the time they approach the garage to the moment they enter their destination and ultimately return. Sean understands that parking forms a visitor’s first and last impression of an excursion.

Sean’s design experience includes large mixed-use projects that integrate parking into a solution that holistically addresses many of the communities needs, including residential, retail and transportation. Sean’s projects include TOD residential developments. He is currently Walker’s project manager for design and construction of new parking garages being constructed as a part of the Long Island Railroad’s 3rd Track project, a multi-billion-dollar effort to add approximately 10 miles of new track along the railroad’s heavily congested main corridor, as well as upgrade stations and crossings along its route.

Sean is a visionary with a keen interest in how technology is shaping the future of parking. He has been a vital part of the conversation on how technologies such as electric vehicles and driverless cars, along with the associated changes in modes of transportation, are affecting mobility and design and he has challenged himself to work on problems related to adaptive reuse and changing curb needs. This work enables him to help clients understand how their projects integrate holistically into a rapidly changing transportation environment.

Sean realizes that however the future unfolds, green technologies will play an ever increasingly important role. He is proud that his designs incorporate the latest advances in environmentally friendly solutions: from projects featuring solar panels and electric charging stations to facilities designed with sustainable maintenance and operation procedures.

The future holds exciting prospects and challenges for the parking and a transportation community, and with young leaders like Sean poised to take us there, it promises to be bright one.
