On July 5, 2022, Walker Consultants announced the appointment of four new company Directors.

Ibrahim Erdem, Ph.D., PE, SE, (New York) has been promoted to Director of Restoration. Ibrahim has over 21 years of experience in the evaluation, investigation, and repair of structures. He specializes in the effects of adjacent construction and diagnosis of construction and design defects, as well as the evaluation of construction sites for site safety measures. Ibrahim has authored over 20 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings and is New York City’s first ever DOB-certified Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI).

 

Ryan Frederick, PE, SE, (Denver) has been promoted to Director of Engineering Services – West Region. Since joining Walker in 1999, he has been involved in the new design of post-tensioned and precast parking garages and the restoration of deteriorated structures. In this role, Ryan will manage the strategic direction of engineering services in the western region. He will also serve as a technical resource to effectively serve our clients, advance production standards and provide QAQC.

 

Jodi Bauman (Chicago) has been promoted to Director of Project Accounting. With Walker since 1999, Jodi is responsible for training Walker’s talented project accounting staff, database analysis and management, and financial reporting to leadership. Jodi will continue to serve Walker’s financial sector with emphasis on project management software and continuous improvement of processes throughout the firm.

 

Cassandra Fiderius (Kalamazoo) has been promoted to Director of Corporate Accounting. In this new position, Cassie will be responsible for managing the operations of Walker’s Corporate Accounting department, financial reporting and analysis, preparing the operating budget, and audit management.

Sean Connolly, RA, RWC, CCS (Irvine), has been promoted to Principal. Sean is Director of Building Envelope in Walker’s California offices. In the entire building envelope, Sean’s expertise includes above- and below-grade waterproofing, exterior walls (including windows and doors), and roofing for new construction and renovation projects.

 

 

 

Charles Hammond, PE, SE, CWI, LEED AP (Austin), has been promoted to Principal. Charles is a Senior Restoration Consultant in the Austin office. His diverse international and domestic background has included restoration projects, new design projects, forensic investigations, and litigation work.

 

 

 

 

David Lieb, TDM-CP (Denver), has been promoted to Principal. David is National Director of Higher Education Mobility Planning. Based in the Denver office, David focuses on parking and transportation demand management (TDM) strategies and operations at colleges and universities.

 

 

 

 

Mike Retterath, PE (Minneapolis), has been promoted to Principal. Mike Retterath is the Director of Restoration in Walker’s Minneapolis office. He is responsible for managing and coordinating restoration projects and evaluation, design, and project management.

Deon Bender, PE (Los Angeles) has been promoted to Principal. Deon is Director of Operations for Southern California and is experienced in parking consulting, restoration consulting, structural design and documentation. He has been involved in various phases of many projects including, structural design, functional design, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration for both new design and restoration projects. Deon also has experience with parking needs assessment, financial feasibility studies, traffic access and circulation, parking configuration, signage design, lighting design, security, waterproofing systems, parking equipment design and parking management/operations.

Kirk Taylor, PE (Denver) has been promoted to Principal. Kirk is a Director of Design in the Denver office with over 18 years of civil/structural engineering experience and has been involved in various phases of many projects including structural design, functional design, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration for new design projects. He additionally has experience with design of new roadway corridors and rehabilitation of existing roadway corridors.

 

Kirby McCleary, PE (Washington DC) has been promoted to Principal. Kirby is the Director of Forensic Restoration and Building Envelope in the Washington, DC office. He has twenty years of experience in the evaluation, design, and associated consultation of new and existing building structures of all types, uses, and construction materials. His experience has been in the forensic investigation, evaluation, and remediation of existing building defects and deficiencies related to various building envelope and structural systems; building envelope consultation for new construction; as well as expert witness services.

Randy Paulson (Irvine) has been promoted to Principal. Randy is the Corporate Director of Marketing providing support to all 23 offices in the company. He has been specialized in the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors for over 25 years where his areas of expertise include strategy development and execution, traditional and digital marketing, brand development, campaigns and project management, and data-driven decision making.

Texas Tech is planning a renovation of a multi-story office building in Dallas that currently operates as the campus’ Health Science Center and includes an open concrete parking garage.  Walker Consultants provided an exterior evaluation report last January and plans are to move forward with the renovations.  Read the full article here

Association for Commuter Transportation Announces Appointment of Inaugural TDM Certification Board of Trustees

The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), as part of its effort to establish the first certification program for Transportation Demand Management professionals, has announced the appointment of the first members to the Certification Board of Trustees.  As the certification program’s governing body, Trustees will immediately take on the task of finalizing the development of the certification program’s policies, procedures, and exam.  The TDM certification program will establish standards of knowledge and skills for TDM professionals and support their continuing education and professional development.

The role and importance of the TDM professional has continued to expand as communities and private employers deal with increased congestion in urban cores, mobility challenges in rural and developing regions, the growth of new business districts, shifting commuter patterns, demand for convenience, and the development of technologies that have created more mobility options.  This certification program will lay the foundation for ensuring that highly qualified individuals are available to meet the challenge of addressing the diverse needs of commuters, communities, and employers.

Andrew Vidor (Denver) has been promoted to Director of Studies.  His area of focus in the parking industry includes consulting, planning, project management, technology, basis of design, and identifying improvements for existing parking systems, consulting, and planning.

 

 

 

Carl Schneeman, PE (Minneapolis) has been promoted to Principal.  Carl is responsible for the management of projects, structural and parking design, quality reviews, specification development, and contract document coordination. He also manages and directs facility restoration projects, field surveys and testing, develops designs for rehabilitation and restoration of structures, and excels in construction administration of projects.
