Joseph Bukovec, PE has joined Walker Consultants as the Director of Forensics, Restoration and Building Envelope. Based in our recently opened New Haven, Connecticut office, Joseph’s depth of experience and strong project management background will also support clients throughout the New York metro area.
Carrying a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Joseph has over fifteen years of experience in forensic investigation, remediation of building envelope and structural system deficiencies, and new building envelope design. He has led projects in aviation, private, commercial, education, entertainment, government, healthcare, retail, and residential sectors.
Joseph specializes in the preservation of historic buildings, facade assessments, roofing and waterproofing design and repairs, and failure/damage investigations for existing structures. In all of his project work, he focuses on creating designs and details that are durable, practical, and architecturally appropriate. He believes this approach to building maintenance and construction promotes sustainability as well as being more cost effective and easy to maintain for the owner.
In addition to project work, Joseph is also active in professional organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC). He also serves on the Peer Review Board of the IIBEC Interface technical journal and Building Enclosure Symposium Committee, and he is an LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction, Registered Roof Observer, Construction Document Technologist, and SPRAT Level I Rope Access Technician.
